My passion for helping keep families together stems from personal experience. I have walked in the shoes of my fellow immigrants; I was deported and placed in a cell as a child, struggling to understand why I was considered a criminal in the eyes of the law. My family came here seeking freedom and a better future. As an innocent child, I didn’t grasp the reasons behind our circumstances— all I knew was that I wanted my mother and father.
During the deportation process, I experienced traumatic events, such as being detained in jail and unable to hug my dad, who was in a separate cell away from my siblings and me. My parents faced numerous challenges but fought tirelessly for the American dream they envisioned for us. I grew up with the fear of not being able to tell anyone where I was born, hiding my immigration status to avoid being deported again, and always fearing law enforcement.
As I pursued my education and started my own family, I sought a way to become a citizen. I knew many families like mine who also lived in hiding, sharing common fears. I witnessed families torn apart due to the deportation of a loved one. Many individuals were taken during their commute to work, while washing clothes in public areas, or simply because border patrol knocked on their doors. Parents were removed from children during school hours, leaving kids unattended to fend for themselves, often resulting in them being placed in the foster care system.
My goal is to help families establish legal status in the U.S. by exploring their options and keeping my clients informed about laws and upcoming changes in immigration policy. I aim to break the cycle of fear and support hardworking families in our community because we all matter.
